MA DER MA DER
Not fusion. A conversation.
MA DER MA DER means "come over, come over" in Lao. That spirit of open invitation shaped everything.
The world was built around a culinary conversation between James Beard-nominated Chef Ann Ahmed's Lao heritage and Chef Brooke Faudree's French technique. One tradition leading. The other deepening it. The visual language came first, an editorial photoshoot established the aesthetic before a single detail was sourced, so everything that followed felt inevitable.
When the throughline is clear, the idea travels.
WHAT MADE IT WORK
-
Photography shaped the aesthetic first, so every element felt like part of a living editorial.
-
Culinary direction led with cultural integrity, with French technique arriving as a conversation partner rather than an equal.
-
Sensory details, scent, sound, and texture set the tone before a single dish was served.
-
When the venue changed day-of (due to heavy rain), the concept held because the throughline was clear.
-
The story continued beyond the room through press coverage and editorial content.
